A young dancer posed under the fabric to form this impromptu work of art. Dance has long influenced and informed my art, having trained in many forms of dance including classical ballet on pointe. Motion, space, lines, visual relationships; how the body feels and looks while making big or tiny movements or gestures. All this goes through dancers and artists minds while performing and creating.
For Lady Liberty, I wanted to associate the sparkling whiteness of the art with a beautiful dark-skinned face. The figure’s dynamic and free-spirited motion suggested the title.
